Decimal Place Value Mats

Inspired by the Montessori golden decimal mat, each 8.5×14″ place value decimals chart / mat can be used to introduce the concept of decimal place values, adding and subtracting decimals, and identifying the decimal numeric and fraction values of the places.
Materials included:
– 7 decimal mats with decimal point, with whole number places from units to thousands, and decimal places from tenths to millionths
—Montessori-colored, uncolored, Montessori-colored with place value names using “units,” Montessori-colored with place value names using “ones,” Montessori-colored with place value numeric values, Montessori-colored with place value numeric values and place value names (2 versions – with “units”, with “ones”)
– 5 decimal mats with no decimal point, with whole number places from units to thousands, and decimal places from tenths to millionths
—Montessori-colored, uncolored (with no place value names or numeric values), Montessori-colored with place value names using “units,” Montessori-colored with place value names using “ones,” Montessori-colored with place value numeric values
– Labels for columns and column names (separate 8.5×11″ file to be printed on card stock)
—Place value names, from millions to millionths
—Numeric values from million to millionths, in both decimal and fraction formats

The mats can be used to introduce the decimal system in relation to whole numbers. They can also be used with Montessori decimal cubes or numeral cards to learn how to say decimal numbers, and add or subtract decimals. Additionally, you can use the labels in various lessons to introduce the names and values of the places. Children can also use these materials independently or with another child as a material on the shelf or in a center.
